A Spirits & Libations Tour

It is home to Bean’s Creek Winery, a down-home Tennessee winery, as well as, Common John Brewery, a local favorite. If whiskey is where your interest lies, there are three distilleries within driving distance: Jack Daniel, George Dickel, and Short Mountain Distillery.

Jack Daniel – The First, The Best, Simply Jack

A few of Tennessee’s most iconic brands are known around the world on a first-name basis. Think Elvis, Dolly and Jack.

Jack Daniel registered his distillery with the federal government in 1866, making the Jack Daniel Distillery the oldest in the U.S. For more than 150 years, the master distillers have been honing the craft of whiskey-making. Located in nearby Lynchburg, tours are offered daily, except for a few special holidays. One intriguing fact: Jack Daniel, the best-selling whiskey in the world, is located in Moore County, which is dry.

George Dickel – Another Winner Just Up the Road

George Dickel was a successful Nashville businessman when he launched his whisky business in 1878. From the beginning, Dickel grew his reputation for selling the most mellow whisky in the region. He also preferred the Scottish spelling of whisky. No matter how it’s spelled, George Dickel Distillery still makes some of the smoothest whisky around. The Distillery is open for tours Thursday – Monday and closed on all major holidays.

Short Mountain Distillery – Good Things Come in Small Batches

Short Mountain Distillery makes authentic Tennessee Whiskey, moonshine, and other fine and original spirits in small batches. Tours & Tastings are available to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. CDT- 4 p.m. CDT. A restaurant is available on site with food and drinks during opening hours. Cocktail classes are available Friday and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CDT.

Bean’s Creek Winery – A Down-home Tennessee Winery

Beans Creek Winery is Manchester’s local winery, proudly serving up Tennessee hospitality and providing wine tastings daily. Beans Creek Winery offers an extensive list of award-winning wines made from Tennessee grapes. During the summer and early fall, Beans Creek hosts The Grape Jam Live Music Series.

Common John Brewery – Where the Locals Hang

The folks at Common John Brewery are humble, hard-working, and most importantly passionate about good craft beer. They take pride in their product, but also in providing a gathering spot for Manchester and the surrounding community. Common John is equal parts non-pretentious beer and welcoming atmosphere.
